It’s your face I see
when I look in the mirror
my own reflection is nothing
but a ghost
It’s your face I see

Where I live
is not a place
of stuccoed walls and oak doors
arranged to fit
all that I am
under the guise of love
you stand there
mocking comfort
embracing my fear
And into the shadows, I climb
scale and scratch
fingers bloodied
He stares at me
singeing the hairs
on the nape of my neck
with eyes that hatred born
