“I am” by Tina McFarlane

I stand bent
As a tree whose branches are too heavy with weight
I am dragged back down to the earth
Her fragrant stench reminds me of roses and rot
But who am I?

Not skin, not form
But a dream
A nightmare full of unicorns
Whose horns pierce the darkness
And rip the air with their cries

I feel the nothingness
Of damaged souls and flightless angels
My face lies in that earth
And I gasp for meaning

Until I force myself to stand again
And bear that weight
And as I rise my form takes shape
Of limbs, and thoughts, and memories

For now, I am
For now, that’s enough

  1. Enchanting, A star of glimmering hope. Many things come to mind, and I would encourage to watch the following movies. Meet Joe black just to be swept of your feet. Watch Equillibrium with Christine Bale, to be remined what it means to hold on to something . Blade runner look for the Unicorn… Then if you can Blade Runner 2049 so you can feel sad to see the last tree on earth and what dreams it holds… Maybe the Unicorns will find there after all someday.

    • I read your comment just as I was about to re-watch the original Blade Runner. I do plan to see the new one. :). I like the comparison that you made, so I watched Roy and Deckard with the poem in mind.

I will have to check out the others. Thanks for the suggestions.
