When did we grow so bold?

We lie for lust and lust for truth

We scream both hatred and love

Just so that we can feel

We whisper hollow words of wisdom

Through the cold strands of the web

We stand

Limbs full of pride

For the world owes us

And we owe it nothing

We serve no one

Our self-righteousness worn

Like a badge of honor

This independence

Is our bragging right

Are we so quick to reach the grave?

Witness the eyes of the old

For they have seen themselves

And now seek comfort

In those small acts

That they had discarded for greater things

Do not wait for age

Before becoming wise
