DARK FANTASY PROJECT Kerry Black – Book Review – “Sanity’s Threshold” by Angela L. Lindseth

Book Review: Sanity’s Threshold by Angela L. Lindseth

“Sanity’s Threshold” is a collection of about thirty short fictional tales of terror, the paranormal, and the odd, each told in under 700 words. Some are drabble, brief pieces of about one hundred words which, although but a “mouthful” for the reader, might prove interesting to “chew on” long after absorbing their meaning. Not for the faint-hearted, Angela L. Lindseth’s imaginative stories visit realms of dark surrealism, sometimes speculating about the end of the world or the dangers of chemical experimentation, other times giving birth to alien creatures or epitomizing sloth. Whether reminiscent of Rod Serling’s “Twilight Zone” or harkening to “Tales from the Crypt,” Lindseth channels human fears and traps them using concise story-telling. Although my favorite of the group was “Slivers of a Twisted Mind,” an exploration of murder, mayhem, and heat, all the stories convey emotion and tension. Further, the twisted flash fiction works in the anthology provide an intriguing glimpse into a chilling microcosm. Lindseth released this book in autumn, 2016, and it’s available through Amazon or at
