“The Dawn: A Response to Wings” by Tina McFarlane

I am terrified

With the dawn we saw Them
Dark forms against the light
Will this be my last sunrise?

We heard that They would come
And We are ready

We gathered what we could
Weapons of wood, steel and faith

They are so certain in Their victory
The pain of Their laughter
Tears at our hearts

But We will stand and fight
And make them work
For each soul that they take

This is Our battle
Our Fight
We stand as One

And as my eyes meet Hers
I smile
She will fall

and I will see that dawn again.
