Define yourself in two lines.
I’m a storyteller and always will be. If I never had a word published I would still be sitting around campfires telling my tales.
What was your first work as a writer?
Factual articles for a gay lifestyle website. Talking about coming out and being a little bit camp. Those being accepted gave me a nudge to send my creative work out. Then the horror competition with TBM was the first thing I shared with friends and family.
What are you working on right now?
Lots of short stories trying to build a reputation for myself before I deliver longer stories.
Coffee, tea or wine?
Gin. Okay coffee.
What is the worst and best part of the writing process?
Waiting after it has been sent off. That period when there is nothing you can do about it but have to wait to hear what people think.
Best is being published in a book and sitting on somebody’s shelf after they’ve read it, to be rediscovered later or passed on to a friend for them to discover for themselves.
Tell us a quote you love and why.
“Never try to keep up with the Joneses, drag them down to your level, it’s cheaper”.
I love Quentin’s crisp quotes as they are from an outsiders point of view. He attempts to bring people in but then there is a little bite to them too. Plus competing with others is pointless, you have to give what you have to give.
What is your life’s philosophy?
That eventually, you get back what you give out. I don’t believe in gods and ghosts, but I think karma sorta itself out in your own head.
Tell us about your work, which titles you have published and where to find them?
I have a drabble in “100 Word Horrors” and a few in forgotten ones. Longer stories online with “our queer stories” and others on the way that I can’t talk about yet.
What is a mistake you wouldn’t make again as a writer?
Going for long periods without writing. I’m still coming back to where I was years ago after a long break.
Batman or Spiderman?
Spiderman
If you found a winning lottery ticket, what is the first thing you would do?
New laptop and a house to use it in. Charity after that. Honest
What inspires you?
People who dare to stand out and take all that comes with that. They pave the way for those who come behind them.
What do you love?
Telling stories, reading stories. My husband and the cat-shaped creatures we live with.
What do you hate?
Bullying, cruelty.
