They are written very creatively and reading them feels so good! Almost like Lovecraftian flash-fiction!

Caiaphas Marsh

I bet you have seen this online somewhere by now, or some of you may even have this, and I hope you tried some of the recipes therein…

For those of you that don’t know what the “Necronomnomnom” is, it’s a cookbook inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos (yeah apart from real-life cults and erotica fiction, we also have a cookbook now!). All the recipes have pun names like the “formless spawnghetti” or the “deep fried deep one” or my personal favourite the “Pallid Brisque”

The first part of the book presents the recipes and the ingredients in a “rite-like” fashion, or as a part of a journal someone writes while slowly getting mad, they are written very creatively and reading them feels so good! Almost like Lovecraftian flash-fiction!

There are also tons of beautiful illustrations that make this feel like a grimoire or a spell book! The second part of the books has the recipes written in a regular style so that the aspiring cook-cultist can actually try to make something fairly edible…

So yeah, it’s gimmicky, it’s a novelty, it’s weird and also great! Funnily written and certainly a work of dedication and love!
